Fiesta sa Toledo!
kamusta tanan!
It’s been interesting learning a new area with a new companion, but I love the area! It has a lot of walking, but I could use the exercise! J My new companion is pretty awesome too – I couldn’t have asked for a better assignment, or better house-mates! The other companionship in the house is Elder Deschepper and Elder Parkinson.
It was interesting to train someone (have a child), and be the assassin for one of his best friends the next transfer! It’s ironic, but It’s awesome, and we’re getting some good work done! I’m still working on getting to know the bagong mga tudloan (the new people we’re teaching), I’m doing my best to keep up with the names by writing them in the back of my planner.
Anyways, in my studies I’ve learned a bit about how we need to spend our efforts while in this life; we need to focus most on the things of eternal importance. Our time (and therefore our effort) is extremely precious because once we spend it, that investment is permanent, with no refunds. And if we spend it on “that which moth doth corrupt and which thieves can break through and steal” (3 Nephi 27:32) we will have spent it on something which in the long run will have become worthless. Let’s think of our feelings if we hold up an expensive piece of material and find moths have ruined it, or if something precious were stolen. That will be how we feel if after the end of our life here on Earth, we look at the things we have gained, and realized that none of it has lasting (eternal) importance, and the thief (Satan) has taken all the worldly things which he has persuaded us to spend our time and efforts on. However, we can, on the other hand, focus on all the things which will last eternally such as our spiritual progression and learning.
So instead of watching television, we can ask them to turn it off so we can teach them to help them come unto Christ, and instead of thinking about worldly things, we can ”let the solemnities of eternity rest upon (our) mind(s).” Let us resolve to not sell our eternal salvation for temporary pleasure. Don’t let the temptor convince you to have “a little fun” which will give you grief without end if you don’t repent.
May we resolve to follow the Savior, and never give in. I hope that we can all seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
